In the beginning…
It started as an idea. The first time the list was mentioned, it was summarily forgotten within an hour. This website is the fruition of years of banter, discourse, alcohol, bar tabs, Waffle House visits, 3 a.m. trips to Wal-Mart and countless other misadventures throughout the past 7 years. And it is far from complete. But at least it stands.
Life done through action. They say that life isn’t about the moments of breath you take, but the moments that take your breath away. We hope, when all is said and done, we will have little left in our lungs, and a plethora of experiences to share. And that’s just it, a life not shared is a story without an audience. We intend this venue to be a way to share these experiences, and to inspire in others the wanderlust which so captivates our own lives.
Feel free to share yourselves, as the audience is as important a member in this relationship as we are. Comments, replies, suggestions, additions to the list are all freely welcome and encouraged. If you’ve done any of these, feel free as well to add your own story to the mix. And if you just want to catch up with us on one of these adventures, then by all means come along!
Matt is, you will find, a student of quotes; so these are left from him as a forecast of things to come:
“If you are a dreamer, come in. If you are a dreamer, a wisher, a liar, A hoper, a prayer, a magic bean buyer, If you’re a pretender come sit by my fire, For we have some flax-golden tales to spin. Come in! Come in! “ -Shel Silverstein “All that is gold does not glitter, not all who wander are lost.” -J.R.R. Tolkien “What would you attempt to do if you knew you would not fail?” -Dr. Robert Schuller “I need a reason. And don’t say money. Why do this?” “Why not do it? Because yesterday I walked out of the joint wearing my entire wardrobe and you’re colddecking TeenBeat coverboys. Because the house always wins. You play long enough, never changing stakes, the house takes you. Unless, when that special hand comes around, you bet big. And then you take the house.” -Rusty and Danny, Ocean’s Eleven
